What To Do After You’ve Said Yes To Jesus

Next Steps

We so excited for the step of faith you made making Jesus the Lord of your life. It is our greatest honor to introduce you to the Lord. As you begin your journey with Jesus, we would like to provide you with some resources and information to help you get started. We know it can seem a little overwhelming because we all come with previous thoughts, perceptions and experiences, so we want to keep it simple and clear.

Start Getting to Know God

Did you know God wants to connect with you! Just as you would connect with a new friend by talking with them, God wants to do the same. One of the primary ways that happens is through prayer. Prayer is simply talking with God and listening for His voice. Just as we talk to our loved ones regularly, we want to talk communicate with the Lord consistently. One of the main ways that the Lord speaks is through His word.

Which leads to the second thing:

Start Reading the Bible

Reading God’s word is how we get to know the Lord and hear from Him. The Bible gives us detailed descriptions of God’s attributes, values, and thoughts. It tells of Jesus’s life on earth and gives us wisdom for how to live our lives. If you don’t have a Bible, I recommend one of the following translations: the New Living Translation (NLT) or the New International Version (NIV). The Bible consists of the Old Testament (covenant) and the New Testament (covenant). The New Testament starts with the story of Jesus. It is a great place to start reading the Bible. One of the ways to grow in your understanding of the Word of God is by learning from Bible teachers.

Which brings me to the third thing:

Start Attending Church

Being part of a life-giving church is essential for growing in our faith. Pastors provide teaching from God’s word and we are able to connect with others who are growing in their walk with God. You will have the opportunity to get baptized and begin to grow in your walk with God.
